Secrets to Make Your Weight Loss Easier

We all need a weight loss program that works, but it never hurts to take a few easy extra steps to speed up our weight loss when we have the opportunity.  Here are little known secrets to help take off even more weight the easy way, and help you get healthier at the same time:

As we all know, we are supposed to have 5 to 7 helpings of vegetables a day, and most of us rarely make that.  Here are a few painless ways to sneak those veggies in:

Throw in some mushrooms, tomatoes and spinach into any egg dish you make for yourself. This will make the meal more filling, and you have added three of your daily vegetables at the same time.

-  Add vegetables to your rice dishes. Peppers, onions, mushrooms, and carrots are good choices. Again, a major advantage is the dish will be more filling, low cal, and nutritious.

-  When your energy level gets low in the afternoon, try a green drink. It will not only give you energy, but counts as 3 servings of vegetables per glass (see the article on green drinks).

-  At dinner time, add a fruit dish along with your vegetable dish(s). That will sneak in another serving of fruit (we are supposed to have three servings of fruit a day), and it will actually compliment your dinner.

-  Add your favorite fruit to your oatmeal or cereal in the morning. Eating breakfast is critical to any weight loss program, because it speeds up your metabolism for the day.

-  Add beans as a side dish to your meals. They are high in protein, filling, and a lower cal food.

 Eat as many raw vegetables and fruits as you can.  It is a fact that if you cut up these items as soon as you get them home and put them where you can see them in your refrigerator, you will be much more apt to eat them.  In fact, any food in your refrigerator that you can actually see you will be much more apt to eat. Carrot and celery slices are an excellent snack and if you need a little more taste you can dip them in a low cal dip of your choice.

The point is, aside from eating raw vegetables, we can sneak vegetables and fruits into the dishes we are already making, making the task less tiresome and more tasty and filling at the same time.

And finally, instead of cooking with butter or margarine, use olive oil.  It’s good for your skin, has less calories, is much better for your overall health, and has a very good flavor.
