5 Reasons Why We Don’t Lose the Weight

We keep dieting, but nothing seems to be working.  What could it be?  We all slip, but not often enough to derail all of our efforts. Here are 5 reasons why we don’t lose the weight:

1.  We eat unconsciously eat during the day, and end up thinking we ate less than we really did. It is very easy to have a snack without it really registering mentally if we are busy or absorbed in thought. 

2.  Our physical activity declines as time goes on.

3. The restaurants serve larger portions than before (family restaurants and fast food restaurants too).

4.  We eat every time we are even mildly hungry.

5.  We lose weight and then don’t take the steps necessary to maintain the hard earned weight loss.

Everyone knows the golden rule of weight loss is you must burn off more calories than you take in.  The diet will work as long as that rule is adhered to. 

Making the right food choices by eating the right lower calorie foods and engaging in some form of exercise are paramount.
